Aspire Lactation is run by Naomi Drew, a qualified, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and a registered nurse with post-graduate certification in neonatal care. I have been a nurse for over 14 years, a decade of those working with mothers and babies in hospital NICUs. I have three children – two school boys and a little girl – who have each taught me so much about breastfeeding too! My husband is a critical care paramedic and will often send me interesting snippets about breastfeeding in the news :)
I have a special interest in mothers with low milk supply, mothers with a history of prior breast surgery, babies and mothers of premature infants. I am also interested in babies with tongue and lip ties, and food allergies and intolerance.
I have current certification with the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners. As part of my nursing career, I am up to date with my Neonatal Resuscitation and nursing registration through AHPRA. As an IBCLC and nurse, I am required to maintain my skills by keeping up to date with current literature and attend education opportunities regularly.
For you and your baby’s safety, I am up to date with my vaccinations, in particular, pertussis (whooping cough). Pertussis can be fatal in babies too young to be vaccinated and is a serious, preventable disease. For more information on vaccine schedules, visit Queensland Health and talk to your General Practitioner/Paediatrician
